Blockchain based Network Security

Oleg Khovayko, Chief Technology Officer @ Emercoin participates in Risk Roundup to discuss “Blockchain based Network Security”. Overview Network security threats are a growing complex problem! Individuals and entities of all sizes across nations: its government, industries, organizations and academia (NGIOA) are suffering wide ranging consequences from on-going network security breaches. Irrespective of nations, no individual or entity is spared from security breach and if 2016 is any indication, there is no relief in sight as the security threats are getting almost impossible to manage. As the security threats facing computer networks are becoming hi-tech and more complicated technologically, they are getting harder to detect and trickier to manage. Thus, the consequences of failing to not only block cyber-attacks but effectively manage the cyber-security risks is getting complex, costly and catastrophic. Amidst the growing complex security challenges, there are many who sees the solution in the promise of blockchain in securing the computer networks for individuals and entities across NGIOA. There is a growing belief that the blockchain technology that conducts and secures transactions on the cryptocurrency network like Bitcoin—can be effectively used to secure any computer network—and thereby securely storing and transferring any kind of digital information on the internet. Since the information going through any blockchain network is kind of hidden to unauthorized users, it means that the Block chain technology could essentially provide a way to secure, a way to track, a way to protect each computer network that is using blockchain technology. The advances and applications of blockchain technology are convincingly responding to some of the complex security challenges of not only the likes of fast-evolving Internet of Things (IoT) industry, or the complex challenges facing the financial industry, but most of the independent and interdependent security risks originating independently and collectively from cyberspace, geospace and space. While blockchain brings great promise and potential, time will tell whether blockchain will become a new operating system for cyber- security, network security and supply chain operating networks. Time is now to talk about network security risks! For more please watch the Risk Roundup Webcast or hear Risk Roundup Podcast About the Guest Oleg Khovayko, is the Chief Technology Officer @ Emercoin. He has a strong background in the realm of finance and specializes in the technical aspects of blockchains and cryptography. About the Host of Risk Roundup Jayshree Pandya (née Bhatt) is a visionary leader, who is working passionately with imagination, insight and boldness to achieve “Global Peace through Risk Management”. It is her strong belief that collaboration between and across nations: its government, industries, organizations and academia (NGIOA) will be mutually beneficial to all—for not only in the identification and understanding of critical risks facing one nation, but also for managing the interconnected and interdependent risks facing all nations. She calls on nations to build a shared sense of identity and purpose, for how the NGIOA framework is structured will determine the survival and success of nations in the digital global age. She sees the big picture, thinks strategically and works with the power of intentionality and alignment for a higher purpose—for her eyes are not just on the near at hand but on the future of humanity! At Risk Group, Jayshree is defining the language of risks and currently developing thought leadership, researching needed practices, tools, framework and systems to manage the “strategic and shared risks” facing nations in a “Global Age”.
